WORK IN TEAM
I would say that collaboration is at the heart of my creative process. Teamwork is especially important to me—the collaboration with the people with whom I create a film or a music video. From the very beginning, during the process of developing the script and the story itself, I always discuss it with my wife, and together we work—already in the writing stage—on how it could be brought to life and which scenes might be refined.
Once pre-production begins, a flood of new ideas always emerges! In discussions with the director of photography, we often find new approaches to certain scenes, and casting itself can bring true luck in the form of talented actors with unique looks who help reinterpret my characters in a more engaging way. Everything—from the actor to the lighting setup on set, from costume to makeup—is born in the team and always adds something extra and valuable.
I always listen to the team’s opinions. Of course, I don’t always accept every suggestion, but it is through these discussions that very interesting ideas are born. With actors, I prefer not only to do script readings but also rehearsals of key scenes—it is so important to feel what is happening to the characters, to reflect on it once again, and perhaps to look at it from a slightly different angle.
Even during shooting, new solutions sometimes arise—and that’s wonderful. You don’t always expect it, but I’m always ready for it. I prefer to try things, to experiment during filming—even under tight time constraints.
